Ruby is doing well since her surgery. I think the process has been harder on us than it has been for her. We decided to try a pool noodle instead of a cone and it’s working well, she has taken to it better than the cone. We are one week post op. Two more weeks to go then the wound will be healed. Ruby gets her stitches out in another week all going well.

  • Surgery went well

      14 February 2019

Ruby’s surgery went well yesterday. Was about 2.5 hours. We visited with her afterwards, she was coming off the anaesthetic and recognised our voices then put her head in our hands. That was a good sign.

She stayed at the vets overnight for monitoring and is expected to come home today.

Ruby enjoyed time at the beach today after getting sad news from the surgeon this morning.

She’s been diagnosed with brachial plexus avulsian. We will need to amputate the front leg, at the shoulder. She goes in for surgery on 13 February.

Oh no, so sorry to hear the news. Poor Ruby. Sending lots of love from Te Awamutu and wishing Ruby a successful surgery on Feb 13th. She's such a lucky girl to have a family like you to support her.

Since Ruby’s injury, she’s been unable to go for walks so to get her a bit of exercise, today we did our first hydrotherapy session and she loved it!
