Ruel Foundation Mission Trip

On the 5th of December 2019, Piper McConnell (17) and I (Hannah Cheal(17)) are going to the Ruel Foundation in Phillipines. We will be spending 21 days at the Ruel Orphanage where we will be volunteering for 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. We are going in December as we are wanting to be there for Christmas to relieve the full time workers so they can be with their own families. As the children are orphans, we are looking forwards to being their family over the special time of Christmas.

We both believe that we have been called to give our time, skills working with children and helping hands to this mission over Christmas which is the busiest time of year for the organisation.

The children LOVE lots of attention! We will be caring for the children and doing activities such as playing with them, going for walks, feeding, bathing, providing cuddles and reading stories to them.

I have always been intrigued by the Ruel Foundation ever since I was 14 years old which was when I first heard about this place. With prayer and the right people which have come into my life, I am able to know that this is what Jesus is calling me to pursue.

Piper has heard about this foundation through her Nana who has previously visited Ruel and also her family are big supporters of the foundation. Through this she feels as though this is a calling to her from God.

Both Piper and I have always wanted to be missionaries and serving is a big part of what we believe we are called to do as christians. This is a great way of serving others in another country and culture which are less fortunate than us.

We both currently attend Bethlehem Baptist Church which partners with The Ruel Foundation. Hearing different people's stories about mission has opened our hearts to giving our time to share the good news of Jesus and to be able to share joy and love at Christmas time.

Proverbs 31:20 - She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.

Romans 12:13 - Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Mark 10:45 - For the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.

These three bible verses have been verses on our hearts which have been leading us into this trip.
