I am truly passionate about the game of rugby, during my worst times it has always been there for me and I feel strongly about giving back!

Canterbury

Hello Rugby Family, we need your help!

In 2018/19 I went on a holiday/rugby trip to Santiago, Chile. My plan was to lend a hand to developing clubs and share the knowledge i have accumulated from playing and coaching in South Africa and New Zealand. I am currently coaching Div 1 rugby in Ashburton and in addition to that I am an assistant coach for Mid Canterbury Development.

Upon arriving reality bit, clubs had little to no equipment and balls that had no grip. The training surfaces were not ideal and in one particular instance there was no lighting, a portable light which was hooked up to an extension cable and hung in a tree by the players before the session kicked off was used. While i watched this i became thankful for the great equipment, facilities and coaches i have had over the years, to which we often take for granted. Even though the situation was far from ideal, players turned up in numbers and were frothing to rip into it, they were like sponges absorbing detail of the session. When i got home i reflected on my many experiences there and i was inspired and driven to help and make a difference.

Rugby is a growing game and here in New Zealand we are at the top of the food chain in every single area of the game, I would love to take the knowledge i have gained and package it into coaching clinics for players and coaches to learn from. I plan to work with kids, female and males from all ages and skill sets, i have been in touch with a few clubs and have already got the go ahead and buy in. I will be leaving New Zealand in Mid September and will embark on a 4 month journey which will be completely dedicated to coaching clinics and growing the game!

I plan to document this entire journey by setting up social media pages which can be followed, there will be video and naturally image content, links to this will be added soon.

Please note all of the equipment purchased will be donated to clubs when the clinics come to an end.

I will organise and run coaching sessions in Santiago, Chile with various developing clubs.

Use of funds

Funds will solely be used on training equipment such as tackle bags, hit shields, body suits and if possible a scrum machine! I have already got a load of brand new balls which have already been sent to Chile and I am currently collecting pre loved boots.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
