Running 200+KMs to raise awareness for mental health in support of Goshen Trust Mental Health Services Samoa.
International
It is that time of the year again where our social running group, the Apia Hash House Harriers (AHHH), runs the perimeter of Upolu island in Samoa to raise awareness and funds for mental health in our small island community. In relay form, we pass the baton every 5km to complete 200km+ to support an under-serviced, yet well deserving cause.
This year, without exception, and evermore need for its key services in the face of rising economic hardship and social inequalities due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the AHHH family sets out to once again support the Goshen Trust Mental Health Services Samoa, a non-profit organisation whose sole mission is to "provide support and care for people and families suffering with mental health challenges".
Last year, we proudly raised $41,000 Samoan tala with the help of family, friends and sponsors from near and far, collectively doubling our efforts from 2019's perimeter relay to bring our cumulative total to $110,000 SAT over the past five years. This immense support has ensured the valuable care service provided by Goshen trust remains operational for those most in need in Samoa, especially through the most challenging of times.
We hope that our story inspires you to support this worthy cause and we thank you in advance for your generosity to join forces in standing up against stigma, speaking up, and running for mental health in Samoa and beyond!
