The North Canterbury Rural Support Trust has worked tirelessly in supporting our rural communities through almost 3 years of drought.
Now these same people have had their lives impacted by the earthquakes of November 14th. Many have suffered substantial losses but more importantly they wrestle with trying to recover what they can of their businesses while also supporting their families, friends and communities.
The Rural Support Trust plays a key role in this community through arranging both physical assistance and providing emotional support.
I am a Rural Support Trust member and also hold a role supporting each of the 7 South Island Rural Support Trust's
The North Canterbury Rural Support Trust is set up to assist rural individuals and their families to get back on their feet. The Trust is linked into local rural networks and can help people facing challenging circumstances, such as financial, personal or climatic adverse events like drought, flood, or heavy snow.
The Trust counsellors are local rural people who have themselves faced the challenges rural life brings. The counsellors travel to where they are needed. Contact is one-on-one. Services are free and confidential.
