Napier Taupo Car Crash Tragedy.
Napier, Hawke's Bay
Due to a tragic car crash 28 May 2023, on the Napier Taupo road, two young men died and another passenger, Ryan is in a coma in Waikato Hospital.
Ryan is still critical and his family is now split between Napier and Hamilton.
Ryan will be in Waikato Hospital for sometime. And possibly move him to Auckland Hospital to see a specialist surgeon.
Ryan's Mum Hayley has not left Ryan's side and her home daycare in Napier has been placed on hold until Ryan is stable and home in Napier.
Ryan's Dad Richard has come home to Napier to be with Ryan's younger brothers, and will spend time in both towns each week.
My family and I have known Ryan for 5 years, Ryan is a hilariously funny, energetic young man who loves speedway, diggers and lego building with his Dad and brothers.
Ryan has helped cleanup a flooded family home days after the flood in Napier for 2 weeks and was employed on diggers and heavy machines to help with the Cyclone recovery in Hawkes Bay. For a young man he has an amazing work ethic.
Ryan was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I want to show support for Ryan and his loving family to help them get through Ryan's recuperation.
Money raised will go to specialist tests or procedures to come not covered by ACC. Allow family to travel from Napier to Waikato or Auckland Hospital, pay for accommodation and also take the pressure off Dad commuting, having to work and look after younger sons.
Ryans on the Home Stretch 4 September 2023
After legs in casts Ryan is able to get up on his feet now and is walking with support of a frame, he is putting on weight and getting muscle strength back. We still have a way to go but each day is a day closer to getting home.
