Fundraiser for a young cancer survivor who has qualified for the Para World Swimming Championships in September 2025.
Te Aroha, Waikato
In October 2023, Rylee a Te Aroha 15 year old, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer called an Osteosarcoma in her proximal humerus. On the 2nd of November 2023 she had the life saving surgery which took her right arm should and most of her back muscles. Three months later a determined Rylee was given the all clear to get back in the swimming pool. Which the grit and determination she showed through out her cancer treatment, Rylee has managed to take the trauma of the last year and turn it into a positive. Swimming out of the Matamata Swim Club, under coach Graeme Laing, Rylee has worked hard to find her way again in the pool.
In December of 2024, 13 months after the life saving surgery, Rylee set 2 World Para Championship times and qualified for the event in September 2025.
As Rylee is a student we are hoping to raise funds to get her to the Para World Swimming Championships in Singapore and help her access training that is not available in our small Waikato town.
I am her mother and taxi driver.
