Helping Rylee Swimming Her Way To France
Waikato, Matamata-Piako District
Rylee Sayer is a 14 year old Para (S14) Swimmer, swimming for the Matamata swim club and swim NZ, we are raising funds so she can represent for New Zealand in Vichy, France at the Virtus Global Games.
Rylee was born with a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. This means that she can have growths in any organ of her body. Rylee currently has these growths in her Brain, Heart, Kidneys and Skin. She requires ongoing medical treatment and screening to ensure that none of these growths are impeding her daily function, health and wellbeing. Swimming has become the one thing where she feels she is on a level playing field.
In 2022 Rylee had her break through year as a S14 Para swimmer, having a intellectual disability gives her, her S14 classification and ultimately a pathway to the Olympic Games.
At only 13 Rylee was the youngest S14 swimmer to break and hold an open New Zealand record over both the 25mtr and 50mtr distance (Currently holds 15 Open & U16 records).
At the end of 2022 Rylee was invited to swim for New Zealand at the "Virtus Oceania Asian Games" coming away with a Gold medal for the overall girls youth category, from this achievement she has now been selected to represent New Zealand at the Virtual Global Games in Vichy France.
Rylee's overall goal is to swim for New Zealand at the Olympics and Commonwealth games in the coming years.
Any help is much appreciated.
Kind regards
