    Hello to you all, Thanks so much to you all for your support of Calliope Sea Scouts. You have done it. The Roof is brand new, the lower section of the Ramp is now concrete (and looking fantastic) the remaining wood ramp will be in place soon and we are back in business.

    The Scouts, Cubs and even the Keas are keen on getting out there again with ease of access to the water. (just need the water to flush out a bit yet)

    We are now going to head into the next phase of restoring the 'SHIP' look out for the givealittle page - Calliope SHIP - Windows and Walls. That's right, the next phase is restoring the external fabric, the Windows and Walls, removing rot, restoring the timber and repainting.

    Here is the ramp.

  • Ramp renewal timings

    Thanks to everyone for your contributions. We are now looking at weather and tide windows that will allow the ramp to be replaced. With tides in late September being both low and at the right time of the day this is when we are hoping to pour. Remember to forward this page far and wide to support this project to it's conclusion.   • Lotteries grant received

    Thanks everyone for your support to date we are getting so much closer to our final goal. Our lotteries grant has been partially approved for the roof replacment part of the project and the roof has been completed. A couple of fine days were ordered and the weather came good, the site is now clear of asbestos and no longer leaking, YAY.

    Now we just need the remaining funds to get the ramp back up and running - final push now for summer at sea.

  • Great News

      17 May 2023

    HI All supporters, As we head towards 31 May all fingers and toes are crossed for a successful outcome to our NZ Lotteries Grant application. With all the kind donations and fundraising activity we are now in a position to commence the roof replacement. This will begin on 6 June. We still need to push for the remaining cost of the ramp replacement with a goal of completion by summer.

  • Progress is good

    Hello everyone, we are extending the page again to make the final push a reality. We now have Resource consent, funding through Regional Heritage Grants through Auckland Council, Scouts National have endorsed our Lotteries Grant application (which has now been submitted) and we continue to pursue further grant applications. (and always we BBQ sausages) Please share far and wide our page and thank you for your support.

  • Xmas update

    Well done to the Calliope group for massive fundraising effort last weekend at the Devonport Santa Parade. BBQ was a huge success and it was good to see the cutter out with Keas and Cubs onboard. To add to our Xmas cheer we are happy to say that conditions for our resource consent have been set by the council and agreed by us. So hopefully after final peer review it will be released next week. Merry Christmas

  • Resource consent application

    We have extended the close off date so more people can get donating, Applications for Resource consent will be lodged with council this week and application for Council Heritage grant will go in tomorrow. We are on the way to a new ramp and roof.

    Thanks to all that have contributed to Save Our Ship. The project is progressing well with quotes received for both the ramp and the roof replacement and preparations for grant applications continue. We have funds now to support our Resource consent application and this progresses with advance meetings next week. Please remember to share this page with your wider friends, colleagues and whanau.
