Sachas dialysis extension - to help live a somewhat regular life
Oamaru, Otago
Sacha had her first heart transplant at 17 and has just recently just had her 2nd transplant at the tender age of 40!
After all this treatment and trauma, unfortunately due to loads of medication through the years, she is now in need of a new kidney, however, due to her white cell markers not playing ball she's not on the transplant list yet which means travelling down to Dunedin from Oamaru 3x a week for dialysis. This takes a huge toll on her mentally & physically and as she can no longer drive she needs a support person to take her.
An ideal world would be for us to build an extension bedroom/bathroom onto her small flat that can fit in a personal dialysis machine to make her life more comfortable and less stressful. Even after (if her transplant happens) she is going to need ongoing care and support.
We are wanting to build a bedroom/ensuite so that Sacha can have dialysis in her own private home...as it is at the moment her flat doesn't have the capacity for the equipment and medication storage that is required.
