Help a hard-working charity recover the unexpected and unneeded costs of vandalism to a SADD Car over the weekend.
Nationwide
Sadly (excuse the pun), one of the SADD cars was vandalised on a Napier street in the early ours of Easter Sunday. It is thought to have been people who were part of an out of control party in a nearby area, that were dispersed by the Police at around midnight. No doubt stupidity, thoughtlessness, and alcohol fueled the random attack.
The vehicle was left with a smashed windscreen, concave roof and dings in some panels.
The vehicle is insured, and all damage will be repaired with help from the insurer, but the organisation will incur a $500 excess fee to get the car back safely on the road.
As a small national charity, working hard across New Zealand with thousands of young volunteers to improve the outcomes for young drivers and passengers and to save lives on our roads, every penny is absolutely precious.
As news of the vandalism spread over Easter weekend, we had a few people asking how and where they could donate to help SADD cover the costs of this horrible act. We're so humbled and thank you for your support!
Should you hear of our plight, and want to do something to help, we would be so grateful if you were willing to contribute some spare change to help SADD to cover the costs of the excess payment, and ensure that the organisation's funds are kept working where they are most needed.
We aspire to have ZERO teenage road fatalities. As a charity organisation our purpose is to effectively empower young people to create, promote and employ strategies to encourage their peers to adopt safer attitudes and behaviours to enhance their life outcomes.
Kindness prevails! 8 April 2015
We are so humbled and grateful for the kind people who have supported the cause. In just a day we have raised $550 - and this is $50 more than we even could have hoped for. We are so thrilled you have helped us to pay for the excess payment to get our car safely back on the road, without us having to utilise funds that would otherwise be going directly to our activity with thousands of student members across NZ. Thank you, thank you! Every dollar we achieve above the target will be used to support the SADD programme in schools, and in particular, the training and support of new members.
