Update
Thank you all for your generous and kind donations. Unfortunately Sam lost his battle on the 25 of March 2021
In July 2020, we received the devastating news that our brother Sam aged just 37 years young has Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
Having shown no noticeable symptom's we were shocked to hear that his cancer which had started in his lungs had mutated to his spine, breastplate and liver. Up to this point, Sam had been living a relatively simple life with a love of stockcars and spending time with friends and family.
Over the past 20 years, Sam, his two brothers Mark and Ben and family have been part of New Zealand Stockcars. While their home track is Huntly Speedway they have raced and been spectators at countless other speedway tracks around the North and some South Island.
Sam is also a well-respected Tyre and Fleet Technician. Sam is continuing to work in this field, as he has done all of his working life. Currently based in Morrinsville Sam is working for Marc 1 Tyres which services Morrinsville, Te Aroha and the greater Piako region. Before this Sam worked for Hauraki Tyre and Battery based out of Thames servicing the Hauraki Plains, Thames and Coromandel areas.
Sam is a locally born and raised Morrinsville man through and through. He is quiet, yet always willing to lend a hand, a gentle giant and a devoted Uncle. He has four siblings who all have young families, who's lives Sam would like to be a part of as they grow up.
The good news is that while Sam's cancer is incurable we can treat and contain it giving us the extra time we want and need, to laugh together, build memories together, and for his nieces and nephews to have more time to spend with their beloved Uncle.
Unfortunately, the treatment that Sam needs to buy him this precious time is not funded and is very expensive. The cost of his treatment (Osimertinib) is $11,000 every two months for the first 19 months.
Sam has a determined and positive attitude. We want him to maintain this positive attitude and fight this all the way.
Please donate to support Sam and the Caldwell family so that they can continue to purchase his treatment and give him the time he dearly wants and deserves.
Family
Money will be for Sam’s cancer fighting tablet, with anything left over going towards bills so he can enjoy his time with family making memories.
