Fundraising for treatment of Thalassemia major to be done in Fortis Healthcare Ltd, India and is estimated to cost around US $38000.

Auckland

Muhammad Rayyan, 8 year old, is an eldest son of my childhood friend Nasir Hussain. Nasir and his family live in Hyderabad, Pakistan. He runs a small size business to meet his family needs. He has a daughter and 2 sons, unfortunately, both his sons were diagnosed Thalassemia major from the age of 6 months. Both kids have been going through blood transplantation almost every month ever since their diagnosis. Doctors in Pakistan highly recommend "Bone Marrow Transplantation" treatment for both the boys and Rayyan needs this treatment as soon as possible because his blood transplantation frequency is getting higher and higher with the passage of time and his condition could be life threatening. Bone Marrow Transplantation is the only available treatment for Thalassemia, and is one of the most expensive and complex treatments in medical science today.

Unfortunately, Bone Transplantation facility is not available in many countries and success rate in Pakistan itself is very low. The cheapest and most successful Bone Marrow Transplantation in the world is available in India. Nasir has discussed his sons' medical cases with Fortis Healthcare Limited which is one of the leading Medical Research institute providing Bone Marrow Plantation treatment. Fortis has gone through with medical reports of both kids and have proposed a 2-3 months treatment. The advised treatment costs between US $35000-$38000 if bone marrow donor is a sibling and BMT is matched at least 50%, otherwise they will arrange a donor and the price will be even more.

Nasir has arranged around US $20000 by utilizing whatever means he has in Pakistan. Now he is short of US $18000 to start his elder son's treatment. He has requested me if I can help him collect the remaining amount so he can move forward with the treatment, otherwise he will have to go with the blood transplantation and watch his sons go into the mouth of death. I would appeal the fortunate people who are more privileged and blessed with a kind heart to put their share and help save these little souls.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
