Help us to save the beautiful 'Jenny M' Ferro-Cement ketch from destruction
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hiding out in Lyttleton port is a beautiful 55ft Ferro-Cement hulled ketch in need of some TLC to bring her back to her former glory. With the port due for destruction, we have been given the opportunity to remove her from the water and fix her up, however she's a heavy girl and the cost to remove and relocate her is not a small one. In order to get her to a place where repairs and restoration can be made, we're asking for some help to raise the funds.
Environment Canterbury has deemed the 'Jenny M' an environmental hazard in her current state, as well as deeming her 'unfit to sail' without restoration work completed. She is currently caught up in a stalemate between Environment Canterbury and the Christchurch City Council for her future, which is something we'd like to get her out of. From our research into her history, the last voyage completed by the 'Jenny M' was from England to New Zealand, which is no small feat in itself for a concrete boat.
Funds will be spent on removal of 'Jenny M' from the dock, transportation to & from the dock, & restoration. Removal involves a 30T crane, lowboy truck and manufacture of a custom cradle, including ECAN and Council cost requirements.
If we are unable to raise the full amount, we will still be using the funds raised for Jenny M, we will have to approach banks to help us with whatever the remainder may be.
Thank you for helping us out, we appreciate it!!!
Thank you so much Kacey, this means a lot to us and we really appreciate your support!
