Save our Southern Hospital

    Date: Monday 18 November, 6pm – 7.30pm

    Location: Dunedin Town Hall

    People who don’t live in the South are about to make a decision that will impact our hospital for the next 50 years. We need to tell them to build it once, build it right.

    Hosted by MC Kanoa Lloyd (The Project), this free event will give you the opportunity to hear from experts including Registered Nurse Linda Smillie, Dr Sheila Barnett, Dr Mike Hunter and Hon Pete Hodgson. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions of your own.

    With special guests including Sir Ian Taylor, Southland Federated Farmers President Jason Herrick and former All Black Paul Miller, and with entertainment from Robert Scott and Norma the Organ, this free event is not to be missed.

    There will be a New Zealand Sign Language interpreter at the event, which will also be livestreamed.

  • Cliff is in Wellington!

    Thanks to your support Cliff the ambulance is now in Wellington! Accompanied by registered nurse Linda Smillie and Southern delegates including the Mayors of Dunedin, Invercargill and Waitaki, Cliff will present the nurses' petition to parliament tomorrow at 12:30pm.     Next up we're organising a Town Hall meeting to give people the opportunity to learn more about the issues and have their say. We'll share more details on our Facebook page shortly.

    Thank you so much for supporting the Save Our Southern Hospital campaign.

    In the past week, Cliff the ambulance has visited Balclutha, Gore, Invercargill, the Otago Farmers Market, Portobello and more.

    And next week... Cliff will begin the trip to Wellington! Cliff will arrive at The Beehive on 6 November to help present the nurses' petition to parliament.   • Cliff the ambulance hits the road!

    Come and say ‘hello’ to Cliff the ambulance and learn more about what we’re doing. Cliff will also be packed full of campaign support material:

    • Hospital campaign posters (free)

    • Freepost postcards to our Ministers and Members of Parliament (free)

    • SOS Hospital badges ($5)

    Cliff the ambulance, Mayor Jules Radich and Councillors will be at the following locations on Friday 18 October, 2024:

    • 9.15 – 9.45am, Port Chalmers Library

    • 10.05am – 10.45am, Blueskin Library

    • 11.15am – 1pm, Octagon

    • 2.20pm – 3pm, Mosgiel Library

    • 3.20pm - 4pm, Green Island playground (next to Fresh Choice)
