Mobilising to maintain our waahi tapu burial ground at Motungarara Island
Paraparaumu Beach, Paraparaumu
Motungārara Island on the Kapiti Coast is a special place central to our emerging nationhood and still maintained as Māori land by descendants of Tiriti o Waitangi signatory Te Rangihiroa, who signed Te Tiriti there on 4 June 1840.
We want to save our waahi tapu there from inappropriate development to ensure the ancestors buried there rest in peace and that we can maintain the reverence and turangawaewae that should prevail. This involves legal/court costs, hui, materials and awareness raising to encourage all involved to do the right thing with this sacred whenua.

Legal fees, hui, materials and incidentals in fighting to protect the whenua and restore burial ground markers/memorial.
