Save Kennedy Point, Waiheke Island

  • SKP inc - Environment Court Appeal

      3 November 2017

We are now appealing to the Environment Court to Stop the construction of the Marina at Kennedy Point.

We need to raise more funds to present our legal case in court and we need your help.

If you've ever been to Waiheke Island and you have beautiful memories of this Island Paradise and it's laid back atmosphere and colourful people, PLEASE GIVE A LITTLE and spread the word. HELP US protect our public spaces for us and our future generations.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us financially and morally this far.

    A BIT OF HISTORY:

Auckland Council gave consent to the Marina Developers to build a Marina in Kennedy Point, Waiheke Island. A total of 169 submissions were received. Of these, 136 opposed the application (partially or in full), 29 supported the proposal with 4 submissions listed as neutral.

We have been through mediation to try and reach an agreement with the Marina Developers. None of our requests to reduce the size or remove the floating carpark areas was attended to.

The appeal process is well underway - scheduled for hearing at the Environment Court in February 2018.

    THE TARGET

We estimate that we need to raise a further $100,000 with $125,000 raised to date. So we have a big target, we need assistance.
