As promised, I have donated the received funds to the Bomber Command Memorial through their website. I topped it up to make it a round 200 pounds. See attached email confirmation. I asked for a letter as well acknowledging the donation so, if and when it arrives, I'll put it in an update.
Just read the great news that Mr Munro has accepted Lord Ashcroft's offer so the medals will remain in NZ.
As planned, all money donated on this page will be donated to the Bomber Command memorial. I'll top it up a bit so its a nice round figure.
But thanks to Les Munro, Lord Ashcroft and Motat, the memorial will receive 85,000 pounds!!
It seems clear that we'll never get anywhere near enough to make a bid on the medals but any money donated here will be donated to the Bomber Command Memorial as promised so its still a very worthy cause.
