Save Les Munro's Medals

$386 of $100,000 goal
Given by 9 generous donors in 19 days

This campaign is to raise money to buy Les Munro's Medals and Log Books at Auction and keep them in NZ.

Bay of Plenty

Les Munro (CNZM, DSO, QSO, DFC, JP), a New Zealander, is the last surviving pilot from the Dam busters Raid. He made an outstanding contribution to the war effort as his many medals show. He is now selflessly selling his medals and logbooks by auction to raise funds for the maintenance of the Bomber Command Memorial in London. Lets raise enough to buy the medals to keep them in NZ, probably at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

All money donated will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund, whether we are successful or not. If we win the auction, it'll go that way. Otherwise all funds including money left after the auction will go directly to RAF Benevolent Fund.

The money is to assist with the upkeep of the Bomber Command Memorial in London that honours the 55,537 members of RAF Bomber Command that lost there lives (many kiwis included).

Donation Made  7 April 2015

As promised, I have donated the received funds to the Bomber Command Memorial through their website. I topped it up to make it a round 200 pounds. See attached email confirmation. I asked for a letter as well acknowledging the donation so, if and when it arrives, I'll put it in an update.

I fully support you Les. If we can raise enough to enable you to retain your medals AND preserve the Bomber Command Memorial, great. If not I'm happy to donate toward the Memorial's upkeep. You're a legend, Les.
