Oscar's medication for another month was $72.40 - He's on vibravet again at 1/2 a tablet a day, which is 50mg (100mg tablet cut in half). And we stocked up on 6 Worming Tablets which was $14.22 and strike my kind heart down I brought the little cutie another catnip toy for $3.41 lol :)

  • OSCAR UPDATE 19/3/15

Oscar is home from the vet :D The desexing surgery was a success and as we predicted Oscar is FIV Positive. The vet are guessing he's around 7 years old and has been abandoned quite some time now :( Our strong boy is already happily purring away after a big feed of chicken & tuna and is acting the sweetest he's ever been :D So proud of our boy! He was flea treated, had his claws clipped, his teeth cleaned from a little decay & they groomed the knots out of his hair <3 All at one price of $30, fantastic deal and a good outcome, aside from the expected FIV. Yay Oscar!! All thanks to you Petvet Silverstream, thank you so very much! We just love his pretty bright green eyes :) Mummy's favourite part about Oscar, Aside from his strength!

And look at our cutie Oscar! :D It's like he's a new cat already! So proud of our big boy! And better yet there's been no hisses, bites or scratches for 5 days now smile emoticon What progress! If you could friends please keep sharing Oscar's donation site, we finally get the $ coming in some time next week and the $'s going to be spent rather quickly as he needs to go back to the vet for a checkup and another months (approx) medication to clear his sinus & breathing problems and the meds & consultation aren't cheap! The rest of the $ will be spent on flea treatment, a good food diet for Oscar, and hopefully we can save $50 for one more consultation after all this <3 https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/savemrstray

  • Vet Visit #2 11/3/2015

      11 March 2015

An invoice and small description of our second vet visit with Oscar! The kind vet says he's a very lucky boy that I found him, and he's doing well considering. He's underweight but still a whooping 3.70kg! The vet says his lungs feel and sound fine, but his throat, nose and lungs are filled with gunk from being sick. He most likely will have herpes and or FIV. I forgot to ask the vet to check Oscar's teeth for his age so I will remember to ask the vet next week as we have Oscar booked in to be de-sexed and to have an FIV test! :D

Apparently getting Oscar desexed will turn Oscar's grouchy personality right around!! It was $107.80 this time for the consultation, Vibravet medication and $2.90 for 3 catnip mouse toys :) A treat for Oscar for being such a good boy during the vet visit!

Our first vet appointment was $32 as we got the consultation free and paid for the medication which was Clavulox. I need to get a receipt for this as I forgot to :) Also, this is all paid out of our own money until this donation money comes through in 2 weeks. Love ya lots friends

Hello friends :) We have a temporary name for Mr Stray! Mumma thinks Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street would be purrrfect! What do you think!? :)

We had a vet visit with Oscar last night & it went wonderfully! Not on Mumma's wallet though, but another 2 weeks & this donation money comes through <3 Oscar's on another weeks worth of meds & he's booked in to be desexed & have an FIV test next Wednesday smile emoticon The kind vet man said his aggressiveness should eventually subside & he'll turn into a different cat! So until then, when his personality shines through, we're calling him Oscar! We're looking forward to Hopefully a bright future with him! Love ya lots friends xox

  • UPDATE 7/3/2015

Good afternoon from Mr Stray :) Mummy says he sure is being funny. Overnight he'll be loving and sleep with mummy on the bed, purr & knead then during the day he'll be a hissy bum & swipe! Thankfully mummy knows the warning signs. Our Mr Stray is still very much wild & until we know what's wrong with his lungs & breathing we can't get him desexed as the procedure is much too dangerous. Vet visit on Tuesday evening <3 And I think mummy's more not looking forward to it than Mr stray, mol!

  • MR STRAY UPDATE 22/2

      22 February 2015
    Main image

Hi good friends! Mumma Rachel here... I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty details about our Mr Stray <3 We've had him 10 days now and he's doing much better than before, but we still have a long way to go!

The donation money doesn't come through for another month because of the site rules so atm we're cruising through with him, helping him little by little. The main concern I have is obviously his health. He could have a range of diseases since he still has his manhood. FIV, Herpes and a very serious respiratory illness is on the table for a start heart emoticon I've looked into all these things and they are all highly contagious - especially herpes and the respiratory disease if he has them - if he does have it, this means he cannot be around our Skye & Charlie. With FIV if he bites them deep he will pass it along - with herpes if he sneezes or they share food bowls he can pass it along :( Unfortunately Mr Stray has a very high chance of having these problems as whoever raised him did not look after him.

Until we have a diagnosis of absolutely everything - when the donation money comes through - he's in quarantine in our bedroom until our flatmate moves out then he will be in the spare room <3 We're keeping him well away from Skye and Charlie as they're still our main priority. I am not getting ahead of myself but I'm unsure if Mr Stray will ever be OK and mold into the family with Skye and Char, he does not get along with any cats and he is very very strong & a little aggressive! He's got me a few times with his swipe, and I've come to find he has been abused. I moved my hand up a little too fast to pat him this morning and he cowered away and hid back in the wardrobe :( Our poor little guy!

Just so you all know our main concern aside from getting him better is our babies Skye and Char. It will be up to Mr Stray whether he wants to fit in here or not - if he doesn't I hate to say or think it but we may have to put him down as I refuse to put him back out in the wild to keep fighting cats and spreading disease :'( Re-homing may be an option, but if his aggressiveness does not stop after he's desexed, re-homing won't be an option.

So we are taking it day by day and being extra careful not to spread his possible diseases around and we'll see how we go <3 Love ya lots friends xox Thanks for reading my novel lmao and thanks so much for your support

When it comes to food time I'm a "garbage guts" Mumma says, mol! I just loooove my food :D I didn't know I'd be back to having my food handed to me, it's much nicer than having to scavenge! And I loooove my warm, comfy bed in the dark and quiet wardrobe <3 Sometimes I'm cheeky and sleep on Mumma and Dadda's bed lmao xox Hehehe it's comfy!! Well back to sleep after my morning meds and feed. Love ya lots friends xox And thank you from the bottom of our hearts from our family here in NZ! Please keep sharing my story xoxo

Mr Stray is doing much better since he's started his meds! <3 He's on his second dosage, at 2 pills a day and he's already perking up! We're surprised at his progress considering it hasn't been a week yet. He's purring more now as he's finding it easier to breathe, and the cheeky butt likes to sleep on our bed lmao!! :D And last night he even slept at the end of the bed with us! And even better news pals... He's finally starting to clean himself!!!! Mr Stray's been too sick and can't breathe well enough to lick himself clean but late last night in the dark he started making these weird gurgling noises... Us wondering what the heck he was doing, shone a light on him and there he is in the corner cleaning himself <3 We're so proud of his amazing progress and how far he's come, but there's still a long way to go! If he's more healthy after the meds we'll be booking him in to get neutered, but if he's still a little on the sick side next week we will get another weeks dosage. Please keep on sharing pals xox We love ya lots

We are getting antibiotics today :D Just waiting on lovely grandma to pick em up and drop em off to us and we will start Mr Stray on his meds tonight. Twice a day for a week then hopefully he will be better enough to be neutered! Please keep sharing!! <3 We are almost to our goal, yippee!! Please do keep in mind though friends, due to this site we have used we unfortunately do not get this money until next month between the 20-25th (I assume so the credit card donations can be legitimised) and this is why we have not helped Mr Stray any sooner, we are using our own money until the donation money comes through in March <3 So please keep sharing, thank you friends!

Hello all our wonderful friends <3 Mr Stray is doing well! He's now not cage bound (his own choice) So we've set him up his own little room in our wardrobe, which he seems to love! And thankfully someone's finally using the cat bed grandma brought! Lol

Vet news! We are waiting to hear from another vet regarding Mr Stray's neutering! Thanks to Cats Protection League Wellington they have given us a wonderful discount :D Thanks so much CPL! But we think that we will need to get Mr Stray some antibiotics first as our first vet fibbed and said he'd need desexing first - but we were told he is most likely to sick for the procedure. So we are waiting on a second opinion! For now Mr Stray is enjoying his daily steak and warm home and seems to be doing just fine at the moment :) His hissing is down to a minimal now. He's a very strong boy!

Please keep sharing for Mr Stray! We couldn't do this without your support <3 Love, purrs and kiwi kisses from us all here in New Zealand xoxox

  • ***HAPPY VALENTINES FROM MR STRAY*** 14/2/15

      14 February 2015
    Main image

Hello friends and a very Happy Valentines from us here in New Zealand!! <3 We've been amazed and overwhelmed by the support from you all towards Mr Strays care!! Thank you all so much for sharing and donating xox A little can truly go a long way!

Mr Stray is slowly but surely getting there. We're feeding him just cat meat at the moment as the cat biscuits clog up his throat and he throws them back up so he can re-swallow them :( As his nose and throat is very sick and sore and covered in gunk. We do have good news though! It seems he can use his litter box but sometimes still poops out of the box and sits in it the silly boy <3 And his poop is healthy with no worms which is a plus!

He's still hissing and today he's a little grumpy so we're letting him have his space today. Mr Stray must be grumpy cos he doesn't have a date for Valentines!

Love, purrs & kiwi kisses to you all xox We hope you all have a purrfect and lovely Valentines Day, and hopefully some of you have our sun as it seems to have vanished today! Thank you to the moon and back for your support xox

  • Vet Update! 12/2/15

      12 February 2015

    ***MR STRAY UPDATE***

We thought we'd give it a go and give Mr Stray another chance at life.. We are aware he may be FIV positive so we will be VERY careful around my cats. Mr Stray will be in quarantine.

We have just had a call from our vets and as we assumed he does have the cat flu and is most likely positive for FIV as he is unfixed :'( I'm so unbelievably angry at whoever his useless owners were! Unfortunately Mr Stray is a live wire and won't sit still or be touched yet so he will need to be sedated for an FIV Test - this will cost $101 and he needs to be neutered ASAP and this will cost an extra $83 <3 The vet says when he is neutered he will more than likely come right health wise, then we can give him vaccinations and antibiotics - but atm the main problem we have is getting him fixed asap!!

Please, please share everywhere you can as we cannot afford to do this alone :( If we do not take on responsibility for Mr Stray he will be put to sleep - as I refuse to put him back in the wild they way he is. And the SPCA and any vets will put him to sleep! Please give and do whatever you can!! A little goes a long way and we appreciate your support to the moon and back <3 I have never asked for a dime and would never expect it unless I needed urgent help with my babies and folks this is one of those urgent times :) Please help us - And for all whom are in doubt I will be taking receipts, pictures, evidence etc of the vet bills the money will be spent on. This money is for no-one or nothing else but Mr Stray!! Thank you thank you thank you friends xox
