We are a loving family of 3 humans, 2 cats and our dog son Ice. I am a qualified Beauty Therapist who was working at the time we saved Ice but now due to health i have had to resort to living with the assistance of a benefit.

Story from the Human 11 Year old sister.

We have decided to set up this page to help raise funds to help us buy/provide a special veterinarian diet for our white allergy prone dog. This is our last option as we have tried EVERYTHING else recommended by vets and on public forums to relieve the hot spot sores that attack our dogs skin. We have been through some real tough times lately and to have to give him up or put him down would just take to much of a toll emotionally. Ice (our dog) is our only son/brother to me, the 11 year old daughter. He is approx.4 years old and his hot spots and skin have been gradually getting worse over the years when it comes to summer time. We’ve spent thousands of dollars over the years on recommended antibiotics and steroids (which can cause liver & or kidney failure) and only suppress the hot spots for a while but are one of the few things along with a very expensive diet (that we can't afford) that the vet recommended. Because of his cheaper diet this does not provide the right enzymes to fight this problem by himself. My mum sprays him multiple times everyday with apple cider vinegar as a home treatment, he has a special flax seed oil added to his diet, anti-bacterial body wash& medicated shampoo. We have spent hours researching on the internet to find some help from people that have had the same issues but being an internal issue, topical remedies are more of a cover up and not working at the root of the problem. In the last two months alone Ice has been to visit the vet for this reoccurring problem 4+ times each at over $200 as the medicine is so expensive. As a puppy he was destined for a miserable life. Being a mastiff x born in a poor area of town, his chances of a great life were slim. We saved him and fell in love with his contagious personality. He needed a $1500.00 eye sugary as a six month old pup to stop the excess skin turning his eye lashes inward scratching his eyes, making them weep. We saved and went without to provide that surgery for him and now after years of continuous vet bills, we are struggling & trying everything to not have to put him up for adoption or put him down. He is a valued member of this family who spends most of his time inside with us. He thinks himself to be human (One of us). He is extremely friendly and caring and both him and us would be devastated if he had to leave. I am very uncomfortable asking anyone for money let alone people i don't know and i don't usually ask for help but we are very desperate to save our boy. Please donate whatever you can spare to this cause so we can change his diet to veterinary biscuits asap and give Ice a sense of relief from the itching, oozing and weeping relentless sores. He was a very handsome boy dog who is now uncomfortable, itchy and scarred. This is a lifetime commitment for us, we are determined not to give up on him but we no longer can afford all these visits to the vet for the same old stuff just to suppress the problem. We want to solve it for good. We love him and we hope you can love him to by helping us help him. Help someone who can't actually help himself. This diet will need to continue for the rest of his life so i realize that it is a big ask but i have to try. Thank you for taking the time to read this and possibly take us into consideration when choosing you'r finalists to help

I am this dogs human mother. He comes to me for comfort and safety. I cannot bare the thought of having to make the call to re-home him or put him down. He is a valued member of this family. I am trustworthy so the money you are considering donating WILL go on exactly what you have intended it to be spent on.

This is our last option.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Hi Kate. Sorry to hear that you are having so many troubles with Ice's skin. You have probably tried most things, but I myself have 2 dogs. One suffered hot spots, and the other constant skin infections. Since putting them on fish oil capsules it has worked wonders! Of course they need a good diet as well, vet diets aren't always the best option I have found, they are full of chemicals, and I agree they are very expensive. I switched my dog to Go! FIT + FREE Grain Free Adult Dog Food. Have you tried going grain & beef free? I would highly recommend seeing a holistic vet or homeopath as well! They can work wonders! All the best :)
