Hello..It's been a couple of emotional weeks. Sparkles is home and doing well.

The bad news is that the skin grafts on the lower leg, although looked good to begin with, developed an infection and didn't take very well.

The good news is the top graft under the arm pit and upper leg took very well.

And....the really fabulous news is she won't lose her leg! Yay!!!!

Sparkles is very happy to be home. She has taken up residence in my daughters room. She loves her snuggles and even gets breakfast in bed! She still has to be confined and is not allowed to jump around. She is happy in her room and gets time out with us morning and night. I even saw her chasing her favourite toy, pipe cleaners this morning.

This short play time usually wears her out quickly and she then snuggles on my knee before bed time. I love those snuggles.

Sparkles has many more months of healing yet. But to see she hasn't lost faith in people after all she has been though is really humbling.

Also a big thank you to the Vets and nurses who cared for her, it made all the difference in the world. We still have the flower you made for her from bandages.

The photo attached was taken when she had just come home. For some reason she was very cold, so I tucked her up warm under some blankies till she felt better.

      Hi, Tracy,

How is Sparkles doing now? If the skin graft on the lower leg, doesn't improve, will they have to do another one? That would be awful for her. I hope the police catch who did this horrific act, but that's not likely, I guess, as the bastards wouldn't have done it in front of witnesses.

      Regards,

      Kerri

      Hi Kerri

Thank you for your caring questions.Sparkles is doing great. She has a vet appointment on Wednesday, I will know more then. So far everything is looking good and if continues to heal that way we shouldn't have to do another skin graft.

Sparkles is happy and playing like only a cat can. She isn't in much pain now and continues to get better everyday.

I will do a update to page when I have more info this will also email out.

      Thank you

      Tracey and Sparkles

Thank you everyone for your generosity and support for Sparkles, it has been overwhelming!

We went ahead with the skin grafts on Tuesday and she tolerated the operation well. Sparkles was up and about quickly, sporting her funky ladybug cast! :)

She will have her first bandage change today, though we won't know how well the skin grafts have taken until next week. We need ideally a 90% take. So keep those fingers crossed!

Sparkles has been a remarkable patient. She tolerates procedures that most cats would need sedating for. She enjoys watching all the goings on at the vets and is soaking up the attention. She really seems to know we are trying to help!

Again thank you so much I will update again next week.

    Tracey
