Saying Goodbye, and Moving On

On Saturday May 13 my partner and I had to take our girl to the after hours vet, on Monday May 15 she was admitted to the vet, and on Tuesday May 17 we had to say goodbye. I started with $2226.27 in my savings, and so far we have spent $2162.92 trying to save her, $69.67 on transport, and $137.87 on fast food when we didn’t have the will or energy to cook. We still have to pay for her cremation and urn, which I expect will be steep.

Nymeria was my emotional support cat, and we are devastated.

The money in my savings was supposed to be for moving expenses. We have been looking for somewhere more suitable to live for over 2 years now, and a big reason it’s been difficult is because we needed a pet friendly place that was within walking distance to a vet (Nymi was absolutely terrified of cars). We are more likely to be able to find a place now, but it will take a long time to save up for moving expenses again. The flat we are currently in is too small and damp; it features 5 different colours of mould, and there’s a lot of it. Living here is bad for both our physical and mental health.

$3000 would cover everything we’ve spent so far, and I think most of the cremation and urn (I think the quote was ~$800). Any money at all would be a big help! Please don’t go out of pocket though, times are rough all round.
