School of Walk

$3,190 of $26,250 goal
Given by 39 generous donors in around 5 months

Pankaj, Daryl and Mike are walking 570km in India and are looking for sponsorship to raise money for 5 schools in rural India.

International

Schools in India do not have the facilities we take for granted in New Zealand.

To do a small bit to help this 3 ANZ New Zealand IT workers - Pankaj Ambavane, Daryl Percy and Mike Butler will be walking 570km during December 2018.

We are looking for sponsorship to fund science laboratories and sports equipment for schools at Nakadpada, Amgaon, Karnjpada, Dadhare and Varsale in Maharastra State, India. If the full target is met then 3 schools will get science laboratories and 2 schools will get sports equipment.

If a lesser sum is raised it will be spent in consultation with the donor schools to give best effect to the funds available.

Pankaj, Daryl and Mike will be paying all their own costs and every cent raised will go to schools.

Purchases will be made by Daryl, Mike and Pankaj and delivered to schools by District Education officer.

Pankaj Ambavane is involved in fund-raising event and helping the local community in New-Zealand.

He was support crew member for Mike Butlers charity walk for Cancer Society from Auckland to Wellington in year 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Pankaj also set-up fund-raising stall for “Breast-Cancer society” in Cuba Street Saturday Market and collected reasonable amount for which Breast-Cancer society appreciated efforts and sent out thanks note.

Pankaj was also involved in fund-raising event for “Kerala-Floods” and raised decent amount of money.

Mike Butler has been helping local community for many years.

He has raised $40,000 for New Zealand Cancer Society from walks done in New Zealand in 2011, 2016 and 2017. Mike is an avid dog trainer and on his New Zealand walks was accompanied by his dogs.

In 2016 Mike fractured his leg during a charity walk and had to stopped in Gisborne. But he kept his promise and next year (2017) he completed his walk ( Gisborne-Wellington).

Mike was the one who came-up with idea to walk in India as he told Pankaj, you have done for community in NZ now it’s my turn to do something in India which brought –up the plan to walk in India.

Mike is a member of the Vestry at ST Peter’s Anglican Church in Wellington. For 40 years he has been a Cobol programmer – the last 18 years at ANZ. Mike will be blogging during the walk at http://mikeshikenz.blogspot.com/

Daryl Percy is a retired volunteer fireman who served his community for over 18 years in New Zealand.

He is also a keen Motorcycle rider who often does charity rides, for others.

This event is the first of this type for him and he is very excited to be included, he hopes that the effort that himself, Pankaj and Mike are going to put will benefit a lot of children in India.

Sorry but donations are not tax deductible in New Zealand.

There will also be a fundraising site set up in India.
