Water skills for life saves lives. Over 150 closed school pools could be open to help children learn survival skills and prevent drownings.
Save our School Pools! Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) is on a mission to help New Zealand’s schools keep their swimming pools open. As a nation surrounded by water, it’s crucial our kids learn water safety skills and know how to swim to survive. One of the best places to do that is at a school pool. Around 156 school pools have closed in the last six years and a further 130 nationwide are at risk of being shut down permanently. These schools have exhausted all options – they’ve fundraised, sold keys and allocated what they can from their annual Ministry budgets. That’s why we’re asking for help. Help us get the drowning toll down. Please donate to our cause.

Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) is a charitable organisation with a mission to get the drowning toll down to zero. We can do this by changing people's attitudes and behaviour around water. Water is to be respected and children having water survival skills will go along way should they as children or adults get into difficulty in the water - be it the pool, river, lake or ocean. If all children had access to a school pool, then they have a chance to learn water skills for life!
