Needing to raise $3000 to travel to Sydney for a soccer academy I aim to get people to sponsor me through a hard 30 day training program.
Hawke's Bay
In late December I was so happy to be selected for the Central Federation Soccer talent squad. This is a squad of 16 under 12 players from Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne. During February and March we play Wellington and Waikato and then in July we are heading to a big tournament in Sydney against top teams from NZ and around Australia. As a result, Mum and Dad say I have to start earning the $3,000 I need to get me there.
In case you didn’t know I’ve been playing soccer since I was two years old when I played in the Little Dribblers in Miramar. I have now been in the Hawke’s Bay rep team for the past three years. This year is the first year I have been eligible for the Central Region team. While I can play any position, I have been playing mostly as a wing back and really enjoying it. My biggest strengths are ball control at high speed and stamina (which is why Dad makes me run all the time!).
With soccer being my main sport I am keen to test myself and see how far I can get. My ultimate goal is to one day play for Chelsea. That’s why this trip would be awesome, not just because of the experience and meeting new people, but because it would be so amazing to play against some great competition including the top NZ and Australian teams in my age group!
To raise the money my parents and I came up with the idea which means that the harder I train the more money I will raise. Dad is setting me a hard training program starting 1 February and I am looking for people to sponsor me for doing it every day for 30 days in a row. This means I have to be dedicated to making this work and fit the runs in around my team practices and school work.
The funds raised here will be used to pay for the flights and fees associated with the trip to Australia in July.
