Kaitoke, Upper Hutt
For $20 a month, you can give a child an experience they may remember for the rest of their life.
For some tamariki, camp is their first night away from home, their first time exploring the ngahere, or their first opportunity to discover what they can achieve in a completely new environment.
At Y Camp Kaitoke, near Upper Hutt, and Y Camp Raukawa, near Whanganui, children and young people can build confidence, strengthen friendships, develop independence and experience the pride that comes from overcoming a challenge.
As a not-for-profit, YMCA Central works hard to keep camp affordable and accessible. However, some families cannot afford the cost, and the fees paid by schools do not cover everything required to keep our camps safe and operating.
That is why we are asking for your help.
A donation of $240 can fund a camp placement for one child who might otherwise miss out. You can give the full amount today or spread your support across the year by donating $20 a month.
Your support can give a child:
• A safe and supportive place to belong
• New experiences beyond their everyday environment
• Opportunities to build confidence, resilience and independence
• Time in nature, away from screens and everyday pressures
• Memories and friendships that can last long after camp ends
Together, we can help more Kiwi tamariki experience the adventure, connection and sense of achievement that camp can provide.
The YMCA has supported young people and communities for 180+ years. At YMCA Central, we run programmes, camps, and centres to back tamariki, rangatahi, families, and communities to thrive—building wellbeing, skills, and futures for all.
