We need to purchase flights to Portland Oregon to attend the International Youth Silent Film Festival
Our students were so excited to have won 1st and 2nd place for their films "Attack! of the Death Robot" and "Overexposed", respectively, in the 2018 IYSFF NZ Regionals and are looking forward to the 2019 Global Awards which will take place in June 2019 in Portland, Oregon. Having just received this invitation, we are gutted that our students do not have enough money to represent NZ at an international event:
We are pleased to announce the preliminary schedule of events for you, our filmmakers (and your families) whose films have been selected as Official Entries for the 2019 Global Award Show of the International Youth Silent Film Festival. We will host the show at the historic Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon on June 9th, 2019.
This letter serves as your official request to attend and be part of the celebrations!
The Global Awards week starts on Wednesday, June 6 and ends on Sunday, June 9. The week not only includes the Global Award Show, but also studio tours, dinners, VIP receptions, hiking in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic area, a BBQ and pool party, and riding in the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade!
Please confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience.
We know you will leave with a lifetime of memories!
Jon JP Palanuk, President
International Youth Silent Film Festival"
If we are able to secure funding for tickets by the beginning of March, we can accept the invitation and send at least one representative of each film (plus one teacher to chaperone).
If you enjoy the films and would like to see our Lynfield students represent NZ at this World's event, we would appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thank you!
Use of Funds:
Funds will be spent on flights from Auckland to Portland, Oregon (includes one teacher ticket to chaperone students) and accommodation.
