Help Sialei raise funds to get to San Francisco to attend an International Fellowship and conference in mental health stigma reduction.
Wellington
Stigma, bias and prejudice around mental health issues diminishes hope, drives people from seeking help and isolates those affected by mental health conditions. It increases illness, disability, isolation, despair, hopelessness and suicide.
I have been selected for the 2015 “Change Leader” Fellowship Programme with The Centre for Dignity, Recovery and Empowerment, which includes attending 7th Annual “Together Against Stigma” International Conference in San Francisco 17-20th Feb 2015; I just have to pay my airfare and accommodation!
The fellowship I have been selected for will provide me with an internationally renowned stigma and discrimination expert to mentor me for a year during two projects I am involved in here in NZ. One is aimed at equality in employment in Wellington, and the other is a nationwide program aimed at reducing stigma, discrimination and isolation among young people experiencing mental distress in schools.
This is an amazing opportunity to learn from the best in the world in this field and bring it to our people here in NZ. I would love the opportunity to attend the conference and learn the latest from world leaders in mental health.
The Centre for Dignity, Recovery and Empowerment have offered to pay for a part of my airfare, but I need to find $700 for flights and pay for my accommodation. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys :)
