Walking and Cycling trail from Waipu Cove to Mangawhai Heads

$330 donated
Given by 6 generous donors in around 3 months

Crowd-funding the development of a shared user path from Waipu Cove to Mangawhai Heads.

Langs Beach, Northland

The Wairahi Tracks Charitable Trust is part of a consortium of community-led groups aiming to develop a 45km shared walking and cycling trail in Bream Bay, that will eventually provide a safe off-road trail from One-Tree Point to Mangawhai Heads.

The Trust is currently developing a short section of this trail from Langs Beach to Bream Tail Road (The Vital Link), that will provide a significant recreational amenity linking Langs Beach with the Te Araroa Trail and giving access to the walking and biking trails being developed within the Te Waorahi conservation estate.

A second stage of work will focus on the 4kms between Waipu Cove to Langs Beach, extending the existing and popular cycle trail between Waipu and Waipu Cove.

With central and local government funding now focused on roads, the development of these walking and cycling is totally dependent on the generosity of local businesses, the community and visitors.

The Trust is currently seeking donations towards the completion of the construction of the first stage - Langs Beach to Bream Tail Road, with plans to have this completed before Christmas.

We would be grateful for your support, - all donations qualify for a tax credit.

Track is Now Open!!!  17 December 2024

After a whakanoa (blessing) this morning from Patuharakeke (one of our local iwi) we have made the track open today and expect to see it used extensively over summer.

We've assembled a brief "etiquette" for the use of the track, primarily to ensure the safety of the users, protect the track surface.

- Stay on the Track

- Dogs on leash and under control

- Foot traffic and cycles only

- No Smoking or Fires

Go walk, run or ride it, take care, use common sense and enjoy!
