Grade 3 triple negative aggressive breast cancer.

Nelson / Tasman

Three weeks ago we received the devastating news that my sister Shinnae age 23 was diagnosed with grade 3 aggressive triple negative breast cancer ,she was told to stop working immediately & since then it has been non stop with hospital appointments. Before anything can start she is currently undergoing fertility treatment to freeze her eggs before Chemotherapy & radiation as there may be a chance of infertility. She will be starting Chemotherapy on the 2nd of May then maybe surgery in October at this stage there thinking double mastectomy then following with radiation with treatment lasting 12months. Currently undergoing genetic services testing for BRACA 1 as our mum has it & has already undergone a double mastectomy there fairly sure it is the cancer gene. Doctors has given her a 50% survival rate at this stage. When we received this news my parents had sold there house in Christchurch & were moving back to Nelson so my sister is currently staying with them in tadmore which is about 1 hour out of Nelson & is commuting to Christchurch for treatment but has been able To transfer her Chemotherapy to Nelson as where my mum will be supporting her threw treatment & when she is unavailable I will take over & she will be staying with me. With not being able to work & there no longer being a sickness benefit my sister doesn’t even have money to cover her living & is using savings as she still hasn’t received any type of benefit ,she has been told she is entitled to $182pw but told there is a 6week stand down. I am hoping that I can raise some money to support my sister threw this trying time & to try & help make this less stressful. My mum has currently given up her job when moving to Nelson & is supporting my sister full time so anything anyone can contribute would be muchly appreciated.
