A BIG thanks to everyone who has donated to help Maali. She is on the road to recovery and doing exceptionally well.

In light of the recent tragedy in Christchurch we have decided to close Maali's page and encourage people to donate to the victims families instead.

It’s been nearly two weeks since Maali’s surgery and she’s been such a dream patient. She hasn’t touched her stitches once so she’s avoided having to wear the dreaded cone. Yay! She also hasn’t complained at all about having to be crated (because we have two other excitable dogs, Boston and Storm) and not going for her usual hour long walks each day. Maali LOVES walking so this week she’s finally going to be able to start going for walks longer than 5-10 minutes.

Over the last few days she’s been spending lots more of time out of her crate with Boston and Storm. Through the whole process they’ve never been far from her crate. Quite often sleeping right beside it. It was so lovely to see them looking out for her considering she’s only been part of the family for a month.

Maali is definitely one stoic little battler and after everything she’s been through she is the most trusting, sweet natured dog. We love her to bits already!

After a few sleepless nights we can finally start relaxing (just a bit). Maali being the little battler that she is, has pulled through yet again! She had another post op check up on Saturday and the vets were amazed at how well her extensive surgical bruising had healed up and the wound is looking great! She’s still got to stay nice and calm for at least another week but it looks like she’s out of the woods.

She’s been an absolute dream patient since she’s been home… YES HOME! There’s no way she’s going anywhere after this. Surgery complications really make it apparent how attached you've gotten to your foster dog.

Rottie Rescue (she’s a Rottie in disguise) have been absolutely incredible through this whole unexpected ordeal and what was meant to be a relatively inexpensive desex turned into an extremely expensive complicated surgery requiring after hours vet care and a second operation.

Every little bit counts to help pay Maali’s vet bills and hopefully her luck has now changed and there won’t be any more surgeries for this sweet little girl.
