      1 May 2023

We did it. www.silenced.co.nz, if you haven't already seen it.

I'd love to hear your feedback, particularly if Silenced has helped along any breakthroughs with loved ones these past couple of years have embattled you with.

Thank you, so much. This GiveALittle page really drove a sense of responsibility into me as people entrusted me with their money. I hope the outcome was money well donated.

    Love Sam.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated. We made three quarters of our goal, which is enough to get a push on, and finish the project. We hope to be finished by March - but I've been saying 'next month, next month' for... months, now. It's a much bigger commitment of hours than I expected, and synchronising everyone I need at the right time has at times been challenging! Your donations are making something meaningful though. Something of real substance to contribute to the infosphere. From here, what we really need in terms of support, is people to share it when it's complete: as we didn't reach our target, it is the marketing budget that will take the hit - but to be honest - that was always going to be a difficult project for a marketer! If you know someone, let us know. Likewise, if you'd like us to pay someone who's up to the challenge, we are still taking donations privately - just email us at gbthinker@protonmail.com.

Thank you, thank you, thank you - for your donations and support.

    Love Sam.

  • January Update...

      13 January 2023

Sam here, doco writer, producer, director...

This week we visited sociologist Jodie Bruning, sociologist. Jodie has been researching the presentation of information throughout the Covid-19 response and has detailed much of her observations and concerns in this fully referenced discussion paper: https://jrbruning.substack.com/p/covid-19-in-new-zealand-ethics-and

Our interview touched on some of these points, and others. It was intense, and fruitful for the project. I feel very happy about the hard-hitting nature of what she has to say, to contribute to the academic aspect of the programme.

Please be advised we are changing the bank account details of where donated funds will be directed, rather than to The Thinker, they will come to my personal bank account and be paid out to the team from there... I am required by GiveALittle to advise donors before we make this change.

We are hoping for a February finish date. And hopefully, release... Though marketing strategies may push this to March.

Thank you, thank you, for your support. It has buoyed me further in my responsibility to do a really good job of this.

    Sam.

      8 December 2022

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your contributions.

This documentary is a gradual process, there is much to be done, and it is imperative that we get it 100% right. We do not want to be sensationalist or run the risk of pushing people further apart. We recognise the risk of this in presenting sensitive information, it must be done with great care. I wish I could say that this will be out before Christmas so that we can use it to open conversations with loved ones, but it will be the New Year before it is finished. February could be possible.

Your contributions and messages fill me with encouragement and a great sense of responsibility, along with motivation. I hear the please in your pledge, I wish I could hug you and thank you for your solidarity, instead I will do everything I can to produce something that will aid you in your quest for understanding and compassion. Two things that were greatly needed at the Auckland High Court this week, and tragically missing.

    Thank you,

    Arohanui (much love!)

  • Addressing donor concerns

      24 November 2022

Thank you SO much for your contributions and support so far. It's so encouraging. We have had a hesitation to donate raised by one or two potential donors - and that is that the product won't get made while our academic representative is unable to speak to due legal reasons. At this stage, we are making the documentary to the tune that he will be free to speak. But it is possible to release this project in episodes instead of one whole piece, and this is what we will do if we finish it to the standard we need it to be, then get stuck on the suppression. Both the producers of the documentary and the talent apologise for not having a date when this silencing will be lifted.
