My dad’s in ICU after a serious accident and can’t work. We’re struggling, and any help would mean the world to us.
Annesbrook, Nelson
My dad came to New Zealand on a work visa last year.
This past Thursday, he was involved in a serious car accident in Brightwater. He suffered several broken ribs and internal bleeding, including blood clots near his stomach. He has already undergone major surgery and is currently in the ICU, with doctors closely monitoring his condition.
He is a single dad , and the main income for us . Because of my visa status, I’m not allowed to work, and I can’t help with our rent, food, or medical costs.
ACC has been applied for, and while it may cover some of his needs, it won’t cover everything, especially not all ongoing medical costs or daily living expenses. And with his recovery expected to take quite some time, he won’t be able to return to work for the foreseeable future.
We’re in a really difficult situation right now, and any donation, big or small, would truly mean the world to us. Your support will help us cover essentials and take some pressure off while my dad focuses on healing.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, and thank you so much for any help you can give.
My relationship to the beneficiary is , he is my dad.
The money will be spent on rent, food, daily living expenses, and medical costs while my dad recovers and can't work.
Update about my dad 26 June 2025
My father has improved by one level already. The doctor has allowed him to go home and rest, and he was also given medication from the hospital to continue taking. However, he has not had his surgical stitches removed yet. He can walk a little, but he cannot lift anything heavy. The doctor advised him to rest for 8 to 12 weeks. My father and I sincerely thank all of you very much for your kindness. May God bless you and your family
