Traveling halfway around the world, Diane is donating a kidney to give her brother a second chance at life.
Whatawhata, Waikato
For more than two years, our family has been waiting for this moment.
During that time, Diane’s brother, Stuart, has relied on dialysis — enduring two to three sessions every week just to stay alive. Dialysis has taken a heavy toll on his health, independence, and quality of life. Every week has been a reminder that time matters.
Now, finally, there is hope.
Diane is preparing to travel halfway around the world — from New Zealand to South Africa — to donate one of her kidneys to her brother. It’s a decision rooted entirely in love, but it comes with significant emotional, physical, and financial challenges.
She will be away from home for a minimum of nine weeks to complete testing, undergo major surgery, recover, and adjust before making the 30+ hour journey back to Hamilton. During this time, she will be far from her family, her support system, and her work as a cardiophysiologist at Waikato Hospital, where she has dedicated her career to caring for others.
In every aspect of her life, Diane has been a giver — always putting others first. Donating a kidney to save her brother’s life is the ultimate reflection of who she is.
This Givealittle page exists to help ease the burden of this journey, covering travel, accommodation, and recovery-related costs, so Diane can focus on what matters most: giving her brother a second chance at life.
Thank you for supporting Diane and Stuart. Every donation, no matter the size, truly means the world to us.
Diane is my amazing and loving mother, whom I want to support to help my uncle as well.
Funds raised will support international travel, accommodation, medical and recovery-related costs, and time away from work while Diane completes testing, surgery, and recovery in South Africa.
