Raising funds to be apart of an international team of volunteers, providing support for people suffering from mental health issues in Bali.
International
Kia ora New Zealand,
Mental health is not just a major problem here in New Zealand, but a growing global issue. With the right education, I believe we can begin to combat it as one community. I have the privilege of being selected to be apart of an international team of volunteers to go to Bali and work with a diverse group of service users suffering from mental health issues.
This programme (organised by SLV.Global) allows me to go and experience first hand the impact mental health has on a community that has a very different culture to our own. From running activity sessions under various government initiatives, at schools for children with specific needs, and at one of Indonesia's only psychiatric facilities, to community outreach programmes designed to keep elderly residents healthy, each project is unique and as special as the people I will be working with.
Being apart of this team, I will be able practically apply my education in psychology I obtained from the University of Waikato to leave an impact on people's lives. This is an experience that I hope I can learn from and bring back transferable skills that will allow me to effectively work within our own diverse community here in New Zealand. Most importantly it will allow me to make a difference within our community and help change the lives of individuals.
The money raised from this page will allow me to go over, covering the costs of the placement and help demonstrate why Kiwis are some of the most caring people in the world. This experience will bring back a passionate and knowledgeable individual who can leave his footprint on mental health here in New Zealand.

The main goal is to raise funds to get me there which is to pay my placement costs. Any surplus raised, will be donated to Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. The purpose of this charity is to help raise awareness for mental health.
Many Thanks 29 May 2018
A big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. It mean's a great deal knowing the amount of support I have behind me with this.
Because of the traction the page is picking up from social media and other new channels in workplaces, I have decided to extend the page and keep it open until the end of June. This allows extra time for people to read and become more aware of the opportunities you can create and support, that can help make a difference in the world.
Every little step counts and I am grateful for the support I have had from you all this far, allowing me to continue with this amazing volunteer opportunity.
Many thanks,
Chris F.
