Please help Rebekah and Charlie's twins to take away the remaining debt for the funeral of Charlie Smiler.

Wellington

Charlie was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in April of 2013. A former muay thai champion - he thought he had taken a serious blow to the chest in a charity match he had participated in a couple of months earlier. Unfortunately Charlie found out it was a Stage 3-4 tumour in his right lung. Charlie was an incredible fighter, and fought the battle hard, enjoying a period of remission which saw him nearly back to his old self. We were elated. When the cancer came back almost a year to the day of his original diagnosis, things went downhill rapidly. He was 39 years old, he never gave in, but time was not on his side. Charlie was the son of parents who have different beliefs to him, so he was very clear before his death to let them know what he wanted when he passed. Due to cultural and religious differences, Charlie's family found it very hard to accept his wishes when the time of his passing came. They did not help with the funeral costs. Thanks to the love of his friends, other families, and the Muay Thai community, Rebekah & his twins were able to pay off a large chunk of these costs, and the funeral home have allowed the balance to be paid off slowly. It seemed an overwhelming debt at the time & it has been a long road. The twins turn 21 this July, a year since Charlie passed away. I would love it if Rebekah and the twins could celebrate the anniversary of his death that same month debt free. Charlie would never ask. But for those people who mourn him & love him, I am.

I am the older sister to Rebekah, Charlie's partner. She has been unbelievably strong in coping with the loss of her beloved Charlie but this remaining debt is a constant source of worry, and is an ongoing financial drain. I wish her to be free of this, so we may only be left with the memories of a truly wonderful loving man.
