so small, so strong

We are coming together to support our friend, kaiako and colleague Frances (Fran) and her family during an incredibly challenging time.

On 2nd Dec (Rehutai) was born, a moment that should have been filled only with joy. Very soon after birth, she was taken away, due to breathing difficulties. Later that same day, the family received the devastating news that she needed to be urgently flown to Wellington for specialist care.

While in Wellington NICU, the family learnt that (Rehutai) has scimitar syndrome a rare heart and lung condition, then further testing also showed a hole in her heart. After spending two weeks in Wellington NICU Rehutai was then transferred to Starship Hospital in Auckland, where further tests are underway and discussions about multiple surgeries in the near future.

Throughout this entire journey, Frances (Fran) has been a constant love and support- standing firmly beside her daughter and granddaughter every step of the way, Frances (Fran) remains by their sides at Starship Hospital in Auckland.

As you can imagine, this unexpected journey means being far from work, home, and familiar support net works, this cost of travel, food and daily living quickly adds up, while being present for their lil girl as she fights her brave fight.
