Man takes bullet to head for the love of his life

  • Appreciate you all!!!

      12 October 2023

I wish to take the time to thank everyone who has helped our son and daughter throughout this whole journey and what a journey it has been.

To update you on them both, we had a major scare earlier this year when Hemi contracted meningitis and was rushed to hospital, once again he beat the odds and showed us all how strong he is, overcoming that and being discharged 1 week later. Hemi and Missy both travelled to Australia to surprise his uncle for his 30th birthday and on their return thanks to a lot of help from so many people have now moved in to their own house and plan on being there for many years to come. We are so blessed to have them a lot closer to us now and there are some very exciting times ahead for us all.

Plans for their wedding next year are now on the way and Hemi is walking so much more now and doing a lot of therapy with the help of our amazing daughter and it is so amazing to see both of their progress since.

We are blessed to have you all in our lives and words really cannot express how much gratitude we have for you all, God bless you all and from us all THANK YOU!!!

  • Next chapter of the journey

      20 September 2022

    Kia ora all,

Sorry the updates haven't been regular but some great news to report.

This coming Friday our special miracles Hemi and Missy will be discharged from the brain injury rehab centre St John of God and will be moving into a home after 11 months of being in hospitals and rehab facilities.

This is a huge step forward for our son and daughter and hopefully will help boost their healing along with their fur babies all together with some sort of normality.

Although Hemi's recovery will continue we are certain this will be the best way for them all to heal, as a family together under one roof.

Also the other big update is that our beautiful daughter-in-law proposed to Hemi and he said yes, was an emotional night and such a beautiful moment to cherish.

Lastly we would all as a family wish to thank all the medical, support and law enforcement teams for all of their support, but mostly to all family, friends and supporters that have sent such beautiful support, honestly words cannot express how much we appreciate you all and we will all be forever greatful,

Sending love, prayers and many thanks to you all,

    Stephens-Tahuri-Parata whanau❤❤🙏

    Kia ora all,

I would like to take the time to thank you all for the amazing support shown to our son and daughter through donations, beautiful messages and sharing of this page.

    Update on Hemi and Missy;

Earlier this week a meeting was held with the team at St John of God rehabilitation center as to what the next steps are to help Hemi's recovery.

It was a very productive meeting, as due to the current covid situation new restrictions have had to be put in place meaning Missy is unable to visit him until further notice.

Whilst this may be hard for them both it gives a bit of time for our daughter to have some self care time and having faith in the rehab team to help Hemi with more physical excercises.

Missy has had so much support through her tiktok family, and we would love to thank them all.

Yes there is still a long road ahead but we know that with all the support that is being shared we will see our precious taonga both reach their goals to be in a loving home together with their two fur babies and some form of normality.

Thank you once again to all of you for all the support, love and prayers to you all,

Nga mihi Arohanui kia koutou katoa
