Sonia Pinto Fundraising for Ronald McDonald House Auckland

My name is Sonia Pinto and I am a finalist in Miss Auckland 2017. Although most people assume that beauty pageants are all about what is on the outside, that is not really the case with Miss Auckland. This competition believes in "beauty with a purpose" for that reason contestants engage in significant amounts of charity work as well as the usual pageant routines. This year 100% of the proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Auckland.

RMHA provides housing and support for families with sick children so that they can be with them during their medical journeys.

Some cases dealt with by Ronald McDonald House Auckland can be devastating especially when things don't end up the way parents and family members want them to. At times, a parent can hear the worst news they could possibly imagine about their child whereas at other times the news of medical improvement is fantastic and uplifting. In either situation families are always strongest when they are together and they need to be there with that child as they go through their medical journey. RMHA aims to keep them together throughout the child's medical struggles.

That cup of coffee in the morning, that little chocolate bar from the dairy, or afternoon can of Coke. Thats all it takes to be a part of making a difference in the lives of these kiwi families that need to stay together during this time. When we all come together it makes the world of difference.

It's all closer to home than you think and helping your fellow Aucklanders is what being a kiwi is all about. Even if you think what you have to offer is too little it won't be as every cent counts.
