Shaving my head to raise funds for the NZ Mental Health Foundation
Nationwide
Robin Williams recent death was a shock to the world, but sadly, suicide of friends and loved ones affects many New Zealanders every year. This year I became one of those New Zealanders, and I have decided to raise awareness of depression, suicide and other mental health issues in New Zealand by shaving my head. If my actions can help one person have the courage to seek help or start a conversation with someone they care for then I'll be incredibly happy!
In the process, I hope to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation, to support all the work they do towards encouraging people to seek help when they are feeling vulnerable. Shaving my head will coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, 6-12 Oct 2014.
Not only that, but since I have rather a lot of hair I'll be donating it to be made into wigs for cancer patients, so it won't go to waste!
Please consider donating, every little bit helps. And don't forget to look out for each other. Thank you!
