Sowers Trust Girls Discovery Camp

Discovery Camp is a four day overnight camp that helps participants to discover their potential through adventure challenges and activities. The camp is run by qualified youth workers from the Sowers Trust in conjunction with Blue Mountain Adventure Center in National Park. We are fundraising for our upcoming girls camp, as these girls do not fit the criteria of our usual government funders. This camp is a once of a lifetime opportunity for teenage girls to participate in a range of adventure based activities such as white water rafting, caving, abseiling etc. Self esteem and life skills programmes are completed during camp. There is a follow up of a minimum of three months mentoring to support personal development and to enable these young people to put skills into practice. Generosity is an aspect of our Discovery Camps and young people participate in various forms of community service (past groups have helped to build a park for the local community, beach clean ups, baking and social support for retirement villages).

Young people who are selected are often struggling with issues of bullying, depression, low self esteem and anger management. Camp provides these young people the opportunity to discover who they are and who they truly can be!

Our target is to fundraise to take five girls that would not otherwise be able to have this opportunity.
