Rugby is our National game we love with a passion! This 10 aside rugby tournament has been put together to raise awareness of and to support the New Zealand Rugby Foundation who provide assistance to our seriously injured rugby players in New Zealand. The event was born in 2014 and was so much fun and a huge success, so much so that it is now going to be a regular pre-season fixture in Dunedin, with many clubs from far and wide coming to participate in order to show their continued support.
The SPARTANS includes former Otago rugby and All Black’s players and form the invitational team, along with players from Dunedin clubs, making up the team to represent the Injured Rugby Players Fund. This event also brings together the teams, families and community for a very special occasion along with Invercargill's Ben Larson and Dunedin’s own seriously injured rugby player Nick Chisholm, (Kaikorai)
Nick and Ben will be presenting the trophy and prizes at the end of the day.
Next year the tournament is to be held at the Green Island Rugby Club on Sat 13th February 2016. We promise to deliver an action packed day of footy with activities and fun for all the family with price giving and celebrations in the club rooms after, We are a community and a country that is rugby mad so what better way to kick off the rugby season and support an amazing cause!
