I am reaching out after a devastating and unexpected event. My brother (Simon) was involved in a major car accident in Spain, while visiting his children in Mallorca. He suffered severe facial injuries and a broken spine. He is incredibly lucky to be alive, but now faces invasive surgery, long-term rehabilitation, and months of recovery far from home.

Nine days before the accident, his travel insurance lapsed — a simple oversight with enormous consequences. Every medical cost now falls directly on him.

While travelling in Mallorca, he was in a serious car accident that caused:

• A broken spine requiring urgent surgery

• Significant mobility and neurological concerns

• A long recovery

He is currently in hospital in Mallorca, in pain and far from home, needing spinal surgery now.
