    Hi everyone

Thanks for your support of the fundraising to repair and reopen Manurewa Methodist church. The final payment of donated funds will be released back to me to pass on to the Rev Vaiitu’ulala and the church fundraising committee. About $600 was raised by your collective efforts and I’ve heard repairs are underway as a result. Earlier donations have already been passed on. Blessings to you and yours, AngelaP

  • Rebuilding funds so Corner of Hope can serve community again

The “Corner of Hope” church Manurewa Methodist- in the heart of Great South Road - remains closed as fundraising continues for essential repairs and maintenance. While the congregation is now partnering with the local St Luke’s Anglican so it has a place to meet, efforts are ongoing to get repairs financed and done. Multiple community groups have had to meet elsewhere too. This fundraiser closes tomorrow- so if you’d been meaning to donate do some now. This fundraiser will close on Sunday 30 May. Here’s a couple of treasuresd memories of the kitchen fundraiser my parents did with Rev Vai about 10 years ago..at that stage they were planning to start the first community hospitality morning- serving food and cheer each Tuesday morning.

Community outreach and partnering with others is part of the mission of Manurewa Methodist- closed due to expensive maintenance and repairs after a recent vandalism incident. Now the church meets at the nearby St Luke’s Anglican hall.

This fundraising effort is open until end of May. All are welcome too at the next combined service on 23 May - there is a change of time for the service this Sunday 23 May. The Manurewa Methodist service will be combined with St Luke's Anglican congregation, Tikanga Maori and Tikanga Pasifika at 10:00am. It will be followed by a shared morning tea so please also bring a plate of finger food to share. All are welcome. Have a great week and take care.

  • Kumara growing benefits community hospitality meal

      19 May 2021

As well as fundraising efforts to reopen the Manurewa Methodist church, hall, opportunity shop and lounge, the fundraising committee has been growing kumaras to share with the needy.

Each week a community meal is offered from the nearby Anglican hall, and guests take home kumara grown by the church at several spots in South Auckland.

The walkathon and kumara growing, along with various fundraising activities, are keeping the fundraising team busy raising funds to reopen the church in the centre of Manurewa- known as the Corner of Hope. It has been closed for six months due to the high costs of vandalism and maintenance repairs.

This fundraiser remains open until end of May for donations- even though Reverend Vai and his team have now finished their 5km walkathon.
