ST JOHNS CHURCH PAPATOETOE EARTHQUAKE STRENGTHENING PROJECT

$65 of $300,000 goal

Raising funds for earthquake strengthening work of heritage building St Johns Presbyterian Church Papatoetoe, Auckland, NZ.

Papatoetoe, Auckland

St Johns Church is a distinct building on Great South Road, Hunter's Corner, Papatoetoe. Officially opened on 9 August 1923, the church is indicative of early 20th century architecture that needs to be preserved. The church building is a Papatoetoe landmark.

As we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Church in 2023, we were also challenged by the urgent need to strengthen the structural framework of the building to comply with safety standards required of public buildings, in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster. The work needs to be completed without hindering the iconic, and historical nature of the building.

This is a costly project that needs to be funded by a loan, grants and donations. To this end, the church congregation is launching a series of fundraising events. We are an important part of the local community offering both religious and educational programmes and pastoral services to assist community groups.

To support our fundraising efforts, we appeal to local organizations and the business community for assistance. We are grateful for any offers of support for this project.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
