St Anne's Pantry is a Porirua Community Food Bank. Porirua Anglicans oversee a large group of people who assist this enterprise.
Wellington
St Anne's Pantry was established in 1984 as a social outreach of the Porirua Anglican Parish.
Since Covid-19 arrived early 2020 this foodbank delivered nearly three times as many food parcels in Porirua and Linden than in 2019. During 2021 requests for food parcels continued high - in fact 30% more than in 2020 - 1413 deliveries were made.
Each parcel contains items on average worth $160. We receive rescued food via Kiwi Community Assistance, various church and community groups and funding from individual donors and grant providers. This goes a long way to meeting requests, but we do buy quite a lot of food that is not covered by donations.
We have a team of around 25 volunteers who buy, transport, shelve, pack and deliver food. Others provide administration, promotion and request vetting including Porirua Citizens Advice Bureau.
Our budget in 2022 is $82,000. Through Give a Little we hope we may raise around $25,000 of this amount.
Your donation will be used to but food, fruit & veges, cleaning products for distribution in Porirua City and Linden, i.e. from Linden in the south to Pukerua Bay and Pauatahanui in the north.
I'm a little late with this. We have had problems verifying the account. Thank you Suzanne for your great generosity. Perhaps you are related somehow to Ethel Stratford who ran the foodbank into the 2000's? Terry Alve
