St Anne's Pantry is a Porirua Community Foodbank. Porirua Anglicans oversee a large group of people who assist this enterprise.
St Anne's Pantry was established in 1984 as a social outreach of the Porirua Anglican Parish.
Since Covid-19 arrived early 2020 this foodbank delivered nearly three times as many food parcels in Porirua and Linden than in 2019. During 2021 requests for food parcels continue at 2020 levels and sometimes more during school holidays.
Each parcel contains items on average worth $160. We receive rescued food via Kiwi Community Assistance, various church and community groups and funding from individual donors and grant providers. This goes a long way to meeting requests, but we do buy quite a lot of food that is not covered by donations.
We have a team of around 20 volunteers who buy, transport, shelve, pack and deliver food. Others provide administration, promotion and request vetting including Porirua Citizens Advice Bureau.
Our budget in 2021 is $60,000. Through Give a Little we hope we may raise around $20,000 of this amount.
Funds raised will be used to supplement money and food donations from a large number of people and groups. If we raise more than the $20,000 target we have to the end of 2021, this money will assist us to continue our service into 2022.
Thank you so much for your donation.
Matthew thank you so much for being St Anne's Pantry's first givealittle donor. Your kindness is appreciated.
