Help us get Kiwi's into apprenticeships, learning a trade and creating brighter futures for themselves, their future families and NZ.

Waikato

The choices we make daily is all relative to our income. Our daily skinny flat white is simply not an option for many New Zealanders. What if your $20 could help change a person’s life forever? How? By getting them into an apprenticeship.

My Future Rocks is a charitable trust established in November 2016 to change the future opportunities of individuals, one person at a time. We match future apprentices with host companies and then employ them.

Over the next 3 – 4 years the host company will train and develop the apprentice. As the employer, My Future Rocks will provide pastoral support and mentor to the apprentice. The apprentice also participates in our weekly Home Work Home and Super Humans programmes.

Once the apprentice has completed all their unit standards, they will be a fully qualified tradesperson contributing in a positive way to New Zealand’s economy. Give a person an opportunity, belief in them, mentor them, walk beside them on their journey and see the transformation!

When a person is in gainful employment with real purpose and goals, their world changes for the better. They stand taller, their heads are held high, self-esteem is on the rise, along with self-reliance. Their world is full of possibilities. This gives young people and families real futures and gets them out of the generational cycles.

There is plenty of noise coming out of Wellington and from around the country about this housing shortage. We lack skilled tradespeople. Housing affordability for first home buyers? Some think the solution is to import the talent from overseas. Why? When we have young men and women from New Zealand that we could be developed to fill this gap.

This is where you come in. We have over 120 people on our books wanting to start an apprenticeship. These people given the opportunity can be the builders, mechanics, electricians, plumbers, forestry workers, farmers and engineers of tomorrow for New Zealand.

All our work is done at no cost to the apprentice, and we only recover from our host companies what is recoverable. This is what charities do. This and fundraise for our community.

Thank you for reading about how you could help a person become an apprentice.

I want to continue doing what I love!

“All you need is one person to believe in you”. A simple but true statement.

How lucky am I? Every day, I get to meet and work with a range of people from many walks of life and backgrounds. Each with their own stories, but they all share one common goal. They are making conscious decisions today to create better futures for tomorrow. Getting qualified, and a trade behind you creates a future with unlimited opportunities. It all starts with an apprenticeship and a person believing in you. I know my work can change a person’s life for the better forever.

About us

Group Training Organisation. We employ apprentices and second them to host companies for the duration of their apprenticeship. We place huge emphasis on high quality, regular pastoral care. We have set the standard of 95% of those starting with us become qualified tradespeople.

Use of funds

On average, it costs My Future Rocks around $250 to place a person into an apprenticeship. This money is used to help some get drivers licences, others personal protective equipment, maybe a start-up tool kit, Industry Training Organisations fees or even to help them get to work on day one if their apprenticeship is out of town.
