Steph and the boys need their family around them for support and this page was set up to assist the immediate family in getting from the UK to NZ. This is well underway and they will soon be together. This fund will also go directly to Steph and the boys to assist them financially in the very difficult days, weeks and months ahead.

I truly hope this fund will make a difference to the painful journey that lies ahead for Steph the boys and the families and thank you in advance for your generosity.

We love you big cuz

Steve flew our group of 6 from Queenstown, over the Southern Alps to Milford Sound, stopping atop a glacier and a mountain top for lunch, before returning to Queenstown - TWO DAYS before he passed. We were crushed to learn of his accident. Steve was a superb pilot and more importantly a superb human being. We learned all about his family and what was important to him. We learned about his military contribution. He was so proud of his wife and family. He told us all about how he found his way to New Zealand and a wonderful story about his Grandmother. We learned about his wife's pilates work, helping those who suffer from PTSD (forgive me if I haven't gotten this quite right). We really felt like we had the chance to get to know him and we loved him. We couldn't be more sad for his family. My husband and I send you our deepest sympathies. He was an unforgettable man and we feel privileged to have known him. We will forward pictures to Over the Top (I don't have your address) that I took of him during our day together, in the event you would like them.

We fly for many reasons, but the freedom that a helicopter gives us to be up there, to be free from the restrictions of earth, almost levitate, is a pure joy and a privilege - but it's a cruel place to be if things go wrong. Like all pilots we understand the risk and the reward. Steve - a life well lived, and joys well celebrated.

Steve was our pilot on a tour in early January. We just found out about the accident and are absolutely devastated. He made an incredible impact on our trip to NZ, and we are so grateful to have met him. We send our best wishes to his family, you are in our thoughts. ~Abby & Jonny

Steph - A huge loss. Steve shared and gave so much. I was at the funeral and marvelled at the way he lived his life to the full. He gave and he loved. A precious gift for us all. An inspiration. Love Lyn & John x
