As we are now in our last week of being in St Louis, we cannot believe that it has come so quickly.

St Louis Childrens hospital is a wonderful place, there is not one thing we could fault them on, it really has been a world class experience and they are so very fortunate here to have the hospital on their doorstep. An aspect to this could be that we are international customers, but I like to think all the kiddies that go there will have the same kind of treatment.

We have been very fortunate how smoothly it has all gone, while there was a rough couple of days around surgery Reid has bounced back far quicker than we were expecting and has just gone with the flow without much hesitation at all. This kid seems to have a bigger understanding of just accepting life and moving forward than we realise.

Not only have we been able to travel here to give Reid this opportunity. We have had a family member travel all the way over here leaving her own kids at home to support us for a week while Reid was in hospital and have had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time together as a family to have some wonderful times to treasure.

We probably haven’t been the best at posting updates and photos as we often forget to take photos because we find ourselves being present in the moment rather than looking through a screen, then later wish we took photos!

It will be strange going home and not running around organising fundraising events for the next little while – we will have a few more things popping up along the way to help with the therapy costs but for now we get to work on progress.

Progress that you all made happen….

We felt your presence and your love. Thank you for being part of this with us ❤️❤️🚶‍♂️

    See ya soon New Zealand!!

Wow, we started the beginning of this month thinking we would have a bit more time for fundraising as Reids tentative date for surgery was originally April 2020, but after receiving an email to say a cancellation date in August had become available we were shocked, amazed and nervous.

With the push from our family and friends, we accepted the date. This means Reid will be able to start school next year alongside his peers rather than delay because of surgery.

We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the kindness and love we have received through givealittle, facebook, our website and directly from people everywhere. We are even receiving donations from around the world thanks to a kind and talented photographer friend Paul Smith.

Since accepting the date, we have booked our tickets to St Louis to depart New Zealand on the 30th July.

We are HALF WAY there to our $60,000 goal.

We have had sausage sizzles, bake sales, Monster Garage Sale. We have golfballs being dropped from a helicopter, we have hole in one challenges, we have comedy nights and a quiz/auction night coming up in July. We have wonderful people running raffles on our behalf to win free coffee for a year, free hair cuts for a year, delicious fancy cakes, kids packs, health and beauty products and many more.

Every single person who has donated, helped, shared or just had Reid in your thoughts – thank you. Thank you so so so much, there are no words to say just how much we appreciate your help. We have made a commitment that once we are out the other side of this path, we will be paying it forward however we can.

Some very special people have come into our lives these past months and we are extremely grateful to have met them.

Reid knows we are going to America to see a special doctor to help his legs (we don’t say fix, or tell him he will be able to walk as we don’t want him to have false expectations of the amount of therapy and work he will have to put in afterwards) but he knows it is a big deal and his favorite part about all of these events are the sausages and tomato sauce!

So to sign off – Thank you, thank you, thank you xxxxx
